Gerona High-speed railway (Tunnel in the Gerona – Figueres section and intermediate station)

The station has four levels and a 28,720 m² roof slab. In the lower part there are four tracks (two through lines and two serving the station) with two 450m-long platforms.
The other three levels, each with an area of 22,940 m2, are for car parks, with two storeys and nearly 1000 parking places and a bus station, providing inter-modality with other public transport systems.
Medium- and low-voltage electrical installations were provided for electricity supply and lighting in the station and platforms. Special installations included voice-data systems, public address, indicator panels, intruder detection, fire detection and a centralised management system.
As regards mechanical facilities, Imtech installed air conditioning, ventilation, sanitation, waste and rainwater pump shafts, plumbing, fire-fighting systems, evacuation signs and smoke extraction facilities on the underground platforms and in the stations.
It is worth noting the installation of more than 7,000 m² of Exthamat P ducts replacing the conventional metal ducting, 1.7 mm thick and with Promat coating for ventilation and emergency smoke extraction in the station. This allowed us to provide 2h 400ºC resistance for large-scale ducts not certified on the market for such pressures and flows, with exhaustive approval testing by the railway infrastructure manger (Adif), also involving a large saving in the investment required.
