Ikea store – Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) and Arroyo de la Encomienda (Valladolid)

Ikea Ibérica awarded Imtech Spain the work for the HVAC, plumbing, sanitation, garage ventilation and gas installations of what was the first Ikea store in Castile and León and one of the largest in Spain.
The centre, with around 55,000 m² of total built surface, is located in the town of Arroyo de la Encomienda in the province of Valladolid and forms part of the retail complex denominated ‘Río Shopping’ in homage to the river Duero. The HVAC installation executed by Imtech consisted of four-tube air treatment units that condition the store enclosure by means of a variable air flow system. Particularly outstanding, because of the high degree of comfort it provides, is the system of displacement diffusers. Production of heating energy, in turn, was executed by means of gas boilers, while cooling was achieved through water-condensed coolers.
This was the second time that the Ikea group placed its confidence in Imtech for the assembly of the mechanical installations in their stores, as it had previously been awarded the contract for the execution of HVAC installations and biodiesel distribution of the new Ikea centre in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz). This centre, located in the “Area Sur” Retail Park, boasts a 33,000-m² surface distributed over two floors.
