Imtech Spain extends maintenance for Abengoa Biodiesel

Abengoa Bioenergía, a market leader in the development of new technology for the production of biofuels and chemical bioproducts, has renewed its contract with Imtech to continue the maintenance service at its biodiesel production plant in San Roque (Cadiz) through 2015.

Since 2010, Imtech is in charge of all maintenance at the plant, including preventive maintenance, mechanical and metallurgical corrective maintenance, electrical maintenance and instrumentation at the loading and unloading terminal and the process plants for the oil and biodiesel units as well as various work in warehouse units. Imtech employs an average of 15 technicians on site for this service.

This plant has production capacity of 225,000 tonnes a year of biodiesel and up to 20,000 tonnes per year of crude glycerin. It is designed to operate with various types of vegetable oils – soja, rapeseed and palm – which enables it not to be dependent on a single supplier. A large part of its production of biodiesel is used in the Cepsa refinery at Algeciras.
